Project Cambodia

I was fortunate to meet Jack Thy when he was our tour guide during a trip to South East Asia.Jacks passion for Asia and most notably his native Cambodia, coupled with his desire to provide a unique and memorable experience for everyone on his tours means he leaves a lasting impression with everyone who’s fortunate enough to meet him. Jack’s Godmother kindly supported him through university so that he could fulfil his dream of being a tour guide – an opportunity he not look took but excelled in as he was recently and quite rightly voted Waunderlust Tour guide of the year!Due to the impact of COVID-19 on tourism, Jack has been unable to work and therefore has nowhere to live – as tour guides stay with the tourists as they move.Jack’s Godmother had left him some land in Siem Reap before her passing and the Escape Records team are over the moon to offer some support to Jack, so that he can build his own home – which he’s done with his local community in just 8 weeks!Jack is like no one I’ve ever met. He’s thankful for life and grateful for everyday, always smiling, always happy and wants to help others before himself. Always.

Jack has now moved into his new home and I really couldn’t be happier for him. We will continue to support Jack whenever we can and are thankful to have him as part o our community.
